In celebration of Native American History month, join scholar, author, and artist Alan Fitzpatrick for this child-friendly, hands-on demonstration that teaches about the history and material culture of our Upper Ohio Valley Native Americans through artifacts that children and young adults can handle.
Alan Fitzpatrick has visited numerous schools to teach about the rich history and practices of the Native cultures in our Upper Ohio Valley region.
The program is best suited for children 7 years of age and older, and we ask that all children be accompanied by an adult. Please call us at (304) 224-1909 for any questions you might have.
(POSTPONED) Captives & Kin Lecture and Book Signing with Alan Fitzpatrick
POSTPONED to 2021 Free Admission (Donations Appreciated) Join scholar, author, and artist Alan Fitzpatrick as he tells the story of the war captives who assimilated into Native American cultures and ultimately chose not to return to their families. The lecture will cover topics in his new book Captives and Kin in the Ohio Country.

Fitzpatrick's lecture is titled:
"Captives and Kin in the Ohio Country: The Untold Story of What Happened to Hundreds of Captives of the Indians Taken During Wilderness Warfare, and Why They Chose to Not Come Back."

Fitzpatrick's many wonderful books, art, and jewelry will be for sale before and following the lecture. Please join us!

WV Monarch Butterfly Day Event

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2021 AT 10 AM EDT – 2 PM EDT Free Admission (Donations Appreciated) KID-FRIENDLY!
Join us as we celebrate West Virginia Monarch Day, pioneered by WV's only butterfly farmer Heather Tokas, who is located in Wellsburg (Brooke County). West Virginia designated the monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) as the official state butterfly in 1995. West Virginia also adopted an official state insect in 2002. We will be celebrating the day with cookies, butterfly-related crafts, information on how you can save the Monarchs, and Museum tours.
